This three-disc set includes all 15 episodes about the stars wacky lives in the Hollywood Hills. Bonuses: deleted scenes, commentaries. The third season of the reality series Rob and Big kicks off with an episode called "Poop in the Pool." Obviously, this show doesn't pretend to be highbrow. Rather, it's a little gross, pretty funny and highly watchable. The program pairs pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and his ginormous best friend and bodyguard Christopher "Big Black" Boykin. Showing more genuine affection for each other than any of the frenemies on The Hills, the duo find themselves in a bit of a conundrum. How do best friends remain BFF when they work together and agree to have their humiliating moments--no matter how minor--preserved forever on film? And how do they keep coming with up wacky antics without looking contrived? The answer to the latter question is that they make a compromise. Even Kathy Griffin has taken to creating some drama on her excellent series My Life on the D-List. Rob and Big happily follow suit. In one scene, they're helping a stranger who not only doesn't want their aid, but also appears to even be a little afraid of them. In another, they're in Mexico recording a really bad song. Their pets Meaty (a dog) and Mini (a mini horse) are back and if you have any question that some scenes are staged, check out the birthday party they throw for Meaty. Seriously--most guys would rather be caught dead than at a dog's B-Day bash. What drives the show are the likable leads and the occasional glimpse into reality that seems plausible. For all his confidence and bravado, Big may have some issues about his girth. He lets Rob--and viewers--glimpse what it's like to live in a world where husky men aren't regarded as particularly attractive. At times both humorous and poignant, the moments ring true and make for compelling television. Rob and Big isn't must-see TV. This season's 15 episodes are more silly than relevant. But if you happen to catch the beginning of an episode, you're likely hooked enough to watch the rest. --Jae-Ha Kim

In the high-stakes pursuit of big-wall climbing, the Shark's Fin on Mount Meru may be the ultimate prize. Sitting 21,000 feet above the sacred Ganges River in Northern India, the mountain's perversely stacked obstacles make it both a nightmare and an irresistible calling for some of the world's toughest climbers. In October 2008, renowned alpinists Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk arrived in India to tackle Meru. Their planned seven-day trip quickly devolved into a 20-day odyssey in sub-zero temperatures with depleting food rations. Within 100 meters of the elusive summit, their journey - like all previous attempts - fell short of the goal. Heartbroken and defeated, the trio returned to their everyday lives, where the siren song of Meru continued to beckon. By September 2011, Anker had convinced his team to reunite and undertake the Shark's Fin once more, under even more extraordinary circumstances. MERU is the story of that journey, an expedition through nature's harshest elements and one's complicated inner demons, and ultimately on to impossible new heights.
