The hip series Project Runway is a pop culture sensation. International supermodel Heidi Klum returns as host, heading a glamorous panel of celebrities and fashion icons in search of the next star fashion designer. The fourth season of Project Runway returns with another group of telegenic contestants intent on winning the $100,000 cash prize and the chance to jumpstart their careers as fashion designers. The 15 competitors include sensitive Ricky Lizdale, earth mama Kathleen Vaughn, and impishly adorable Christian Siriano. Thanks to his quirky looks, hip designs, and popular catchphrases ("fierce," "ferosh," "hot tranny mess"), Siriano became such a pop culture sensation that he was parodied by Amy Poehler on Saturday Night Live. Though it is full of drama and its share of cat fighting, Project Runway has always been a step above your run-of-the-mill reality series. Whereas The Hills relies on a coterie of frenemies to ramp up its ratings, Project Runway actually seems interested in the contestants and how they will succeed in life beyond the series. Hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, who exhibits a wry sense of humor while keeping the show moving at a brisk pace, the series is smartly entertaining. Fan favorite Tim Gunn returns, as does judge Nina Garcia. This season's guest stars include fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker, who helps critique the contestants' creations for her affordable Bitten line. But former football pro Tiki Barber is a scene stealer, appearing in an episode where the competitors have to design an outfit for him to wear on television. (Some of the pieces that the cast comes up with challenge the notion that Barber looks good in anything.) All 13 episodes from the Bravo series are included in this four-disc set. By the time Klum says auf wiedersehen to the runner up, most viewers will agree that the right contestant won. --Jae-Ha Kim

The seventh season of the Emmy-® winning Amazing Race was far and away the most successful to date, thanks to the participation of Survivor favorites Rob and Amber. Every episode from that season is included here, as well as plenty of infighting, treachery and globe-trotting adventure. 12 episodes on 4 DVDs. 2005/10 hrs., 49 min/color/NR. For its seventh edition, The Amazing Race welcomed two familiar faces. Reality TV vets Rob and Amber were one of eleven teams competing for the million-dollar prize. The other contestants covered the spectrum, like boyfriends Lynn and Alex, brothers Brian and Greg, married couple Uchenna and Joyce, and mother/son duo Susan and Patrick. The latter decides he'll do whatever it takes to beat Boston Rob. As he notes in the season premiere, "I watched Survivor. He's as dumb as a rock." The show’s top-rated installment spanned five continents and 40,000 miles, from Long Beach, CA to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Other pit stops include Buenos Aires, Istanbul, and London. Some of the more colorful challenges include llama herding in Peru and cave rappelling in South Africa, while the emotional high point is a trip to a Soweto orphanage, an experience that reduces Uchenna and Joyce to tears. There will also be sacrifices along the way, as when Gretchen, the second oldest contestant--after her 69-year-old husband, Meredith--has a frightening fall and Joyce says so long to her hair. The seventh season of The Amazing Race is broken into 12 episodes, including three two-part programs. This boxed set features a mini-documentary, chatty commentary from four of the highest-ranked teams, and over three hours of deleted material. After the race aired, Lynn and Alex and Rob and Amber--on network TV, naturally--tied the knot. It was also revealed that Joyce once had a recurring role on Star Trek: The Next Generation. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

The complete first season of the TV series Flavor of Love. At their peak in the late-1980s, who could've predicted that Public Enemy's hype man would become one of reality TV's biggest stars? For William Drayton Jr., AKA Flavor Flav, the journey began with VH1's The Surreal Life 3, which spawned Strange Love (co-starring the inimitable Brigitte Nielsen), culminating in Flavor of Love, a down and dirty version of ABC's soft-focus Bachelor. Instead of a tall, bland hunk, the prize is a diminutive 46-year-old with a unique vocabulary ("Yeah, Boyeee!"), an unusual dress sense (Viking helmets, sci-fi sunglasses, wall clock necklaces), and his own "Body Man," Big Rick. Over the course of this 10-part series, 20 women compete to become Flav's lady love. Seeing as the show is made for cable--and that this is the unrated edition--that means risqué language and revealing outfits are fair game (there's even a little Girls Gone Wild nudity from a few Flavorettes). Because Flav isn't good with names, he doles out some easy-to-remember handles. There's the moody Rain, sensitive Smiley, catty New York, etc. In each episode (except for the recap), he eliminates one to five contestants. Those left standing "know what time it is." Challenges include hot tub-speed dating, a fried chicken cook-off, and Vegas-style roulette. A cross between Jerry Springer and a rap video, the "celebreality" extravaganza is an explosion of hair extensions and false eyelashes set to a soundtrack of screaming and crying. Nonetheless, Flavor of Love pulled in the punters--the finale was the highest rated program in the network's history--and was renewed for a second go-round, indicating that America was "feeling" the Flav...and that the winner split the crib. Guests include Nielsen and Flav's Church-going mom, Anna. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Groucho Marx is arguably the most famous, iconic comedian of all time. "You Bet Your Life" began on radio in 1947, ostensibly as a game show, and became a huge hit television program and as big a part of Groucho’s legacy as the amazing movies he made with his brothers earlier in his career. After the start on radio, the show ran through 423 episodes from 1950 – 1961. These 18 episodes are some of the absolute best from over a decade of popular TV, restored for the highest quality sound and picture possible. They feature guest stars like Phyllis Diller, Edgar and Candace Bergen, Joe Louis, Johnny Weismuller, Frankie Avalon, Groucho's daughter Melinda Marx, Harpo Marx and the first appearance of the show's trademark duck. DVD extras include three Groucho pilots including "What Do You Want", "Tell It To Groucho" and the never-before-seen "The Plot Thickens," plus tons of outtakes and bloopers. The secret word for Groucho Marx fans is "DVD." This three-disc set collects a priceless archive of 18 complete and uncut episodes filmed between 1950 and 1960. The surprise success of the radio incarnation of You Bet Your Life assured for Groucho that there would be life after the Marx Brothers, whose film career came to a sad end with 1950's Love Happy. The television series would be an even bigger hit, and make Groucho a household name. You Bet Your Life was ostensibly a quiz show, but it was more just a forum for Groucho to crack wise with the contestants. These were mostly ordinary people with oddball jobs or interests, or extraordinary talents, like the man who blows up a tire's inner-tube on an episode included on disc 2. Knowing now that the program was carefully planned does not diminish the fun. There are many precious spontaneous moments, such as the trombone-playing female contestant who practically swoons over Groucho's announcer/straight man George Fenneman. Appearances by some "special guests" add to this set's nostalgia value. Former Western star Hoot Gibson, Johnny "Tarzan" Weissmuller, and form...

It's funny to think that for all the great films and stage appearances he made throughout his career both in the Marx Brothers act and solo, Groucho seemed to prefer this modestly-produced TV series above all others. Groucho was the emcee and star of this filmed quiz show and though it was ostensibly a game show, the series' most important asset was the humor injected by Groucho into the interviews he did with the contestants You Bet Your Life ran on television from October 5, 1950 - June 29, 1961 (423 episodes), one of the longest running shows in the history of television. The complete Vanuatu season of the TV series Survivor. Against a backdrop of volcanoes and earthquakes, the ninth season of Survivor, called Vanuatu: Islands of Fire, got off to a rousing start at a native ritual ceremony full of spears, nasty drinks, a fertility idol, and a lot of sexist attitudes. When the natives divided the 18 Americans into groups of men and women, it stuck, and another battle of the sexes was on. Among the Lopevi members: Lea, the "Sarge" barking out orders; Travis, a.k.a. "Bubba," wearing his Bob Barker T-shirt; Brady, the FBI agent; Chris, whose struggles on the balance beam made him an early target; and outspoken Rory. Among the Yasur members: power broker Ami; big-eyed Eliza, whose motor mouth overshadowed a surprising resilience; acid-tongued Twila; and sheep farmer Dolly. Also on the teams were two players with physical impediments: Chad, with a prosthetic leg, and the spiritual Scout, whose artificial knee made her the most immobile Survivor contestant ever. Age lines were drawn as well, with one group dubbed the "Fat Five." But just when the tide seemed certain, a number of reversals, one infamous broken promise, plenty of tears, and host Jeff Probst's corniest-ever final entrance kept things interesting. Trivia: one contestant with a penchant for nude sunbathing ended up dating Probst after the season ended. Probst, Chris, Twila, Eliza, Chad, Scout, Julie, and Ami return for commentary on five episodes and 35 minutes of featurettes on the DVDs. --David Horiuchi
