Smallville: The Complete Sixth Season (DVD)Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. They tried to be friends. But their chosen paths set them on a collision course. The rivalry explodes into the fierce good-versus-evil battle fans have long expected in Season Six of the spectacular series that reinterprets the characters and events of Superman mythology from its very roots. Adding to the supercharged rivalry: Lana Lang becomes Mrs. Luthor. And the secret behind the reason she says yes will leave Clark reeling. But that's not all that's ready to rock Clark's world. Oliver Queen – aka The Green Arrow (recurring star Justin Hartley) – forms a League of Super Heroes to take down LuthorCorp. Will Clark sign on? Then, there are all those pesky Phantom Zone escapees menacing Earth. Can Clark stop them? And LuthorCorp expands its dark genetic experiments with the "meteor freaks." Will an awesome kryptonite-powered army be the result? The answers – and the excitement – are all here in twenty-two out-of-this world episodes!]]> Picking up where its fifth season left off, Smallville's sixth season begins with Metropolis in ruins, Clark (Tom Welling) trapped in the Phantom Zone, and General Zod inhabiting the body of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). Even when that situation, dubbed "Black Thursday," is over, Clark still has to capture the criminals who escaped from the Phantom Zone. Meanwhile, having driven away Lana (Kristin Kreuk), she finds comfort in the home and arms of Lex, driving further anxiety into that romantic triangle that has expanded to include Chloe (Allison Mack, still with a smile that lights up the orb on top of the Daily Planet) and her new beau, photographer Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore). And Lois (Erica Durance)? We see hints of her inevitable future in her becoming a reporter for the tabloid rag The Inquisitor ("The thrill of discovery, the clack of the keys, the scent of fresh ink… I think I've finally found my calling!") and flashing some sparks with Clark especially in a Valentine's Day ep...

The adventure of one of television's finest dramas continues with the complete third season of the Peabody Award-winning Battlestar Galactica. The Colonies' survivors have found their hopes of eluding their Cylon pursuers dashed by an invasion and occupation of their new home. As the fate of all human life hangs in the balance, friends become enemies, enemies become unexpected allies, and decisions are made that will haunt some people for the rest of their lives. Relive all 20 episodes of the season that challenges everything you thought you knew about the Battlestar Galactica universe. Presented in Dolby 5.1 surround sound, the 6-disc set features over 15 hours of extensive special features, including the DVD exclusive version of the episode "Unfinished Business" containing 25 additional minutes of never-before-seen footage. You won't want to miss a minute of the series considered "one of the best dramas on TV" (Time Magazine). The third season of Battlestar Galactica got off to a rip-roaring start on New Caprica, where the settlers had found themselves under Cylon occupation at the end of the previous season. Dr. Baltar (James Callis) had been elected President based on his intention to stop looking for Earth and settle on New Caprica, but is now a puppet of the Cylons, forced to sign execution orders for numerous humans, including former President Roslin (Mary McDonnell). A resistance movement is building, however, led by Col. Tigh (Michael Hogan), and assisted by Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) and Samuel Anders (Michael Trucco). Tigh's desperate tactics--including suicide bombers--raise interesting parallels to the U.S. war in Iraq, and he finds he has to make an even tougher choice. Thanks to Admiral Adama's (Edwards James Olmos) return and the unexpected help of Boomer (Grace Park), the colonists escape, then begin a series of trials in order to convict all of the Cylon collaborators, culminating in the explosive trial of Baltar himself. In a boxing-metaphor episode, Apollo (Jamie Bamber) and Starbuck (Katee S...

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Complete Second Season (DVD)The blockbuster Terminator movie franchise moves to television in this intense, action-adventure drama series which takes place after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Sarah Connor and her teenage son, John, find themselves alone in a very dangerous, complicated world. Fugitives from the law, they must evade pursuers from the future -- and the present -- in today's Los Angeles, relentlessly battling to save themselves and the world.]]> Things blow up. Someone you think is a human turns out to be a shape-shifting Terminator. There are confusing forays through time and discussions about what happened when in which version of the past and/or future. But really, the second season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles--unfortunately the final season of the series--is about family, connections, and the things we do to protect the ones we love. Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) has an especially rough road, nearly dying and becoming obsessed with a three-dot symbol and detours through a world of UFO obsessives. John Connor (Thomas Dekker), a.k.a. the guy who will grow up to lead humanity's resistance to the hated machines, gets tough and gets a girlfriend. His uncle Derek (Brian Austin Green) gets a girl as well, and the women in their lives turn out to have a surprising connection. Cameron (Summer Glau), the Terminator sent to protect John, suffers some damage and reveals some surprisingly human secrets of her own as her relationship with John gets more emotional and complicated. Shirley Manson (lead singer of Garbage) joins the cast as Catherine Weaver, an icy executive with… well, suffice it to say that a familiar (and threatening) face shows up in her company. The special features are extensive and include featurettes on the writing, effects, stunts, music and more. This is a fitting sendoff for an ambitious show. --Stephanie Reid-Simons

Far-fetched but plausable, this is a story about an aircraft carrier traveling backwards in time, just before the start of WWII. The USS Nimitz is cruising peacefully 200 miles off Pearl Harbor when it is suddenly caught in a massive electrical storm and almost immediately the sea becomes calm again. The reconnaissance photos taken after the storm plots their position and indicates a blow-up of Pearl Harbour, circa 1941 with the battleship Arizona visible in the photo. This seems impossible. It dawns on the officers that somehow they have traveled back in time. The crew must now decide whether or not to change the course of history.

Fringe: The Complete First Season (DVD)J.J. Abrams, the creator of Lost and Alias, teams up with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Mission: Impossible 3, Transformers) to create this highly anticipated drama series. Featuring Australian newcomer Anna Torv, Dawson’s Creek’s Josh Jackson, John Noble and Lance Reddick, the first electrifying season of Fringe follows an unlikely trio who uncover a deadly mystery that may be part of a larger and more disturbing pattern that lives somewhere between science fiction and reality. As the season begins, FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Torv) is called in to investigate a mysterious outbreak that nearly kills her partner. The only person with any answers is an institutionalized scientist, Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble) who can only be released under the care of his estranged son (Jackson). Together, the three discover that the answer to this mystery is only a small piece of a much larger, more shocking truth.]]> Teleportation, mind control, astral projection, invisibility, precognition, spontaneous combustion, reanimation: these are among the peripheral sciences--or "pseudo-sciences," as one skeptic puts it--examined during the first season of Fringe, a Fox network TV drama debuting on DVD with the full first season (twenty episodes) offered on seven extras-laden discs. The notion that those phenomena could have a genuine scientific basis is intriguing enough. But co-creator J.J. Abrams (whose bulging resume as a director, writer, and producer includes Lost, Alias, and the 2009 Star Trek feature film) has even more on his mind. Along with the weird science, the series features a multi-agency task force investigating related acts of terrorism that may very well add up to a threat of unimaginable global proportions; people who are exactly what they appear to be (i.e., insane) and others who are anything but; plot twists galore; family drama, interpersonal relationships, corporate evil, cop chases... There's a lot in play here, and while it doesn't always hold together (...
